Today sees the beginning of the very first Queer Pride Week in Portsmouth. There are events planned all week and all are open everyone! Opening the event will be today’s sexual health awareness drop in centre at the PlayDead studio on Highland Road between 10am-4pm.
The following day the PlayDead studio will be holding a special flash tattoo sale there will be a between 10am-4pm. This will follow an evening of storytelling and coming out stories. Bring your stories, a bottle and a beanbag.
Wednesday’s hump day will be the transgender awareness day, Zine workshop and FREE haircuts by Barber Lo. Things will move from PlayDead to Southsea Coffee Co from 7 pm where trans role model Jay Murray will be taking part in a Q&A.
On Thursday there will be a creative workshop including hammer beads badge making and shoe pimping. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for information about how you can get involved.
The penultimate day will be a colouring information and stories from 5pm-6.30pm and a Rocky Horror Movie night from 7pm.
Last but very much not least will be Saturday’s the pride walk and Queer Disco. The walk begins at 11am outside Playdead and will end up on Southsea Common for a BBQ. You are encouraged to bring your pooches and dress them up, the best dressed wins their owner a pair of tickets for the evening’s Queer Disco. Finishing off the week of love and celebration will be a good old fashioned party at the Coastguard Studio. Doors from 8pm and will go on until late.
