This Friday – February 2nd – sees the second in the new series of free events Strong Island Recordings will be running at The Vaults on the first Friday of each month. Once again it’s a chance for us to present some label family, friends and new pals to the city. This time it’s self proclaimed ‘wonky folk pop’ outfit – and Strong Island Recordings label artists – Daisy and The Deadheads gracing the stage. Hailing from London, the band’s DIY indie-pop sound gives nods to the likes of Vashti Bunyan and Teenage Fanclub.
Support comes from the rather excellent Brightonian folk artist Rose io – who’s ethereal folk sound is reminiscent of Joanna Newsom and Lael Neale – and local act Jalou (ft Jimmy Stuart of Strong Island Recordings alumni Is Bliss) who I would describe as creating a kind of post-rock, dream pop soundscape. Whatever it is, it’s very beautiful indeed.
Entry is free BUT, if you can spare the change, then maybe buy some merch or music from artists to support – either at the show or via their stores, as it helps, and/or donate to your local food bank. For more information follow the links below.
