The next Strong Island Photo Walkshop is a fun one, in partnership with Portsmouth100 Wonders: Heritage Art Club we will be exploring the area around Hilsea Lido in Portsmouth on Saturday 22 August, from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm…and it will be FREE to attend.

Portsmouth100 Wonders: Heritage Art Club, a series of monthly meet-ups that bring together local history and different kinds of making. Each session follows the same pattern: an introduction with facts, stories and anecdotes about one of the city’s landmarks, followed by a practical creative activity. For this one, the activity is photography.

The photography workshop is open to anyone over 16. You don’t need any previous experience to join in – just curiosity and a willingness to share stories, so you can just turn up and get stuck in.

The Heritage Art Club is one of the ways the city is marking Portsmouth100, the celebrations around Portsmouth’s centenary. The whole project is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and the club is described as a space to explore, imagine and celebrate the city in an inspiring way. These sessions are leading up to the exhibition Your Museum. Your Stories. Your City., which opens in October 2026.
