The heatwave-heavy summer of 2026 may be drawing to a close, but that doesn’t mean festival season is over. On 3rd October, 12 up-and-coming bands are taking over Southsea’s Wedgewood Rooms for the fourth annual Night Currents Festival – a one-day extravaganza of indie-rock, pop and punk.

And the best bit? Not a single line-up clash. Which means you can grab your mates, get the drinks in, and enjoy all 12 acts across Wedge’s two stages without missing a thing. I can’t think of many better ways to spend a Southsea Saturday.

As punters have come to expect from Night Currents, this year’s billing is absolutely stacked with fresh alternative talent you’ll want to bounce around to.

From quirky ‘wonk-pop’ foursome Lime Garden, to the dramatic, string-rich indie of Mary Middlefield, there’s something for any alt fan to get excited about.

The epically-named SLAG promise to bring a sprinkling of kitschy math rock, while solo artist Jo from School will be on hand to provide plush indie-folk.

Also repping the solo acts will be SOFY, ready to delight Britpop fans with her sugary yet razor-sharp lyrics, soulful alt-pop songstress CATTY, and Irish-born grunge-rock queen SPIDER.

Bristol-based quintet, My First Time, will offer up a slice of fierce electro-punk, while Ain’t are the ones to watch for lovers of scuzzy 90s garage bands. And retro trio Crysometimes are sure to gain followers through their wistful dream pop sound.

I’ll be most looking forward to sets from energetic two-piece ARXX, sure to pack a power-pop punch, and fan faves Prima Queen, already on frequent rotation thanks to their infectious indie harmonies and anthemic choruses.

With all of this under one roof and no deliberations over who to watch, Night Currents is a live music lover’s dream. All you’ll have to decide is whose round it is.
