Preview: Henning Wehn at the Portsmouth Guildhall

Henning Wehn is one of my favourite comedians and is booked in at the Portsmouth Guildhall on Saturday 15th October. I cannot wait!

Based in London but German-born, Henning is incredibly funny and a natural comic. I adore the way he tells a story and sucks you into his excessive and elaborate tales. His ‘Learnt to speak like a Londoner’ sketch at the Apollo was superb. He takes the totally simple and mundane and turns it into absolute comedy.

He has been a delight to watch on ‘8 out of Ten Cats’ and my all-time favourite, ‘Would I lie to you?’ with stories of empty Christmas tree boxes from Argos and being listed as a missing person by Interpol whilst on a bike ride in Spain.

I’ve caught glimpses of him on, ‘Room 101’ and another utter favourite, ‘Have I Got News for You.’ He is so, so easy to watch and offers comedy for everyone with an almost innocent approach.

His common stereotypes of Germans are wonderful and his ability to celebrate his home country and culture in a funny and light way is clever and refreshing. His rants about the War and Brexit only add to his charm. Nothing is offensive, everything is funny. He is wonderfully engaging to watch.

I cannot wait to see him live. What a treat! If you’d like to be there too then there are a limited number of tickets available from the Guildhall’s website.
