Thinking Of You Week with Angela Chick

Friend of Strong Island Angela Chick is a Southsea based illustrator with a taste for the playful, creating cards and gifts that are out of the ordinary – she’s just launched an exciting new range of stationery for friends, cyclists and [almost] all occasions – just in time for those early Christmas shoppers.

At school she was told she drew too much, and luckily this never changed. Her childhood dream of being an entrepreneur led her to forming her own business, where she has been bringing smiles to peoples’ faces with her brilliant range of greetings cards full-time since 2012. With a collection of over 300 different card designs you’re bound to find something irresistible.

“There have been far too many times where I’ve tried to find the perfect card, for that perfect occasion, only to find it doesn’t exist. This is the inspiration for a LOT of my card designs. My best-selling Palentine’s designs were inspired by celebrating love for my pals on this overly romantic day. I soon found out there were an awful lot of other people who wanted to do this as well! I like to celebrate friendship as my friends have always been incredible to me and I want them to know how appreciated they are. Too much time can pass without telling people who matter that they matter” says Angela.

Angela has often moved around and has been lucky to have had a number of pen pals in various parts of the world throughout her life– much of her range encourages people to stay in touch.

There is nothing quite like receiving a hand written letter, especially in today’s digital world. To celebrate her 10 year anniversary of returning to the UK from Canada, Angela has launched some new designs to promote staying in touch. A great place to stop off and grab some cards for

Thinking Of You Week begins tomorrow 26th September and runs until 2nd October. It is a great initiative in its third year, by the Greetings Card Association which states “Sending cards generates positive feelings and wellbeing. Science has shown that receiving a handwritten card creates a lovely warm positive boost and makes people feel far more special than receiving texts, emails or Facebook messages.”

Thinking Of You Week encourages participants to send a card a day for a week to see the impact it has on those around them. Who wouldn’t want to make their friends and loved ones feel special?

Angela is big on generating positive feelings and her new collection also sees the launch of the Three Good Things Notebook – which is a place for noting down three good things that have happened each day – it helps the brain recognise positive experiences easier and appreciate the little things. A brilliant habit to get into before the bad weather comes.

With items ranging from £2.50 to £30 there is a price point for everyone – you can tick off all sorts of names on your Christmas list – AND take advantage of free shipping when you use the code “southsea” at checkout.
