Portsmouth Writers’ Hub presents An Introduction to Poetry

Isabel Rogers, Hampshire Poet Laureate 2016, will be Portsmouth Writers’ Hub‘s June hub speaker on the 30th of June at Le Cafe Parisien. She will be talking about her journey as a poet, leading through to an introduction to poetry and sharing her top tips and the pitfalls to look out for. Whether you wish to develop your writing skills generally, get a grasp of what poetry might mean to you, submit poetry to competitions, write beautifully to a loved one or participate more fully in your city’s poetry scene such as taking part in Portsmouth’s Tongues&Grooves events and the new Aurora’s Front Room Poetry Open Mic evenings, this is the workshop for you.

Isabel will also touch on the relationship between words and music, how to develop and edit your writing to publication standard, and writing poetry for established publications e.g.: Mslexia, Under the Radar, Poetry. Bring a pen and paper and any burning questions.

This month’s Portsmouth Writers’ Hub evening is Thursday 30th June from 6:30pm to 8pm at Le Cafe Parisien, Portsmouth, 1 Lord Montgomery Way PO1 2AH. Entry is free for Portsmouth Writers’ Hub & New Writing South members, please just bring your membership card and sign in on the door. For non members purchase the £10 or £5 (concession) ticket HERE.
