Creating Balance Exhibition Only 3 Days to Go…

Part of the Creating Balance project was about seeing how local artists, designers and photographers could discover ways of working with an iconic Anglepoise® lamp. Many of these uses were indoors and on a practical level initially but it soon became obvious that taking the lamp out and about around the city of Portsmouth was both creative and fun.

Photographer Andrew Whyte partnered up with blacksmith Peter Clutterbuck with Andrew shooting at Peter’s forge just off of Osborne Road in Southsea. Andrew’s final photo for the exhibition was of his Anglepoise® lamp down at the Bandstand in Southsea (designed and built by Peter). Despite the exhibition on display in London and Winchester many of the contributors have continued to be inspired by the project and have created new designs and photos. In the last few weeks Andrew has borrowed a giant Anglepoise® lamp which has kept him company on lonely, late night photo shoots around different locations in the city.

Below are a few of Andrew’s photos and we’re going to be asking you to guess some of the locations in more of his photos to win Creating Balance goodies for Friday evening’s opening event. The exhibition opens at Aspex Gallery at 6pm this Friday. Hope to see everyone there!
