Portsmouth City Council is seeking residents’ views on council spending at the moment and a part of their spending that has seen inevitable cuts has been to the libraries and museums. Both of these resources are free and open access and provide vital direct and indirect services for the local communities they serve. If you feel the same it is important to show your support for these services and to let the council know. You can respond via the link below or through the survey in the latest Flagship magazine. The deadline for responses is Tuesday 1st October so don’t put it off, take 5 minutes of your time and you can safeguard the future of these services for yourself and all city residents.

It’s not just libraries & museums – Aspex (disclaimer – I work there!), the Symphony Orchestra, the Kings & New Theatre Royal amongst others receive some form of funding or support from PCC. If we want these to be protected at all we need to make the case for cultural investment as a whole in the city.
You can get an idea of all the services they fund from last year’s budget proposals

Thanks for the extra info., Gareth, totally agree, if the public funded cultural side of the city (what helps make these resources free in essence) is to be protected everyone needs to speak up.
