Mayville High School’s Clarence Pier History Film

A few months ago the BBC ran BBC News – School Report, a schools project that engaged with schools all over the country, from the Channel Islands to the Shetlands. With the help of the BBC, the pupils (aged between 11 and 16 years) learnt about journalism and came up with their own news stories and told them in their own way – on radio, on TV and online. It all came together on one special day: BBC News School Report Day, on that day the classrooms become newsrooms, with all of the reports placed up on school websites and the BBC linked to them.

Mayville High School took part in the project and as part of their reporting they did a short film on the history of Clarence Pier & The Fun Fair, with some oral history by the family involved and also packed full of incredible vintage footage. A great little news story and well worth a watch.
