From being instrumental in the beginnings of grunge, putting out early records by Mudhoney, Soundgarden and of course Nirvana, to signing American Indie successes The Shins, Sebadoh and Hot Hot Heat to a forward looking roster including Fleet Foxes, Avi Buffalo and Beach House, there’s certainly plenty of evidence to support the second part of that self-effacing mission statement.
