Catch The Portsmouth Seafood Festival This June

SATURDAY 24TH & SUNDAY 25TH JUNE
10am-6pm

Portsmouth’s very first Seafood Festival takes place at Gunwharf Quays on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June between 10am-6pm. The event will celebrate the city’s seafood and fishing heritage. Showcasing the Solent’s finest cuisine, the event gives visitors the chance to see local seafood chefs in action, as well as an opportunity to taste regional produce.

Visitors can expect a weekend packed full of mouth-watering delicacies, local produce tastings, live demonstrations and entertainment. Master of the outdoor barbeque, chef Cornelius Veakins, will cook up a storm on the Alfresco Stage while the renowned Billingsgate Seafood School will take to the Theatre Stage in The Plaza to show spectators how to prepare fish from catch to plate. What’s more, families can enjoy the Interactive Zone where children will be able to see and touch fish, meet local fisherman, and get up close to a fishing boat and the equipment used by the fishermen every day.

You will also find a pop-up fish restaurant with local seafood street vendors showcasing global delicacies and the Portsmouth Fish Market with experts on hand to dish out advice. Where there is food you will also find beverages! To quench your thirst there will be a Champagne Bar, Caribbean Rum Shack, wine pairing and a selection of regional produce on offer including craft beer, ciders and Hawthorn’s Gin. Jazz, folk and acoustic music will add a real festival feel to the weekend.

Supporting The Fisherman’s Mission and RNLI Lifeboat charities.

As well as those I’ve already mentioned, the people that are bringing this unique event to Portsmouth include Portsmouth Fish Market, Viviers UK Ltd, Strong Island Co, Southsea Beach Cafe, Southsea LifestyleBureau of Change and Billingsgate Seafood School.

Strong Island Clothing Co will also be present at the event selling a selection of their nautical inspired tees and accessories.

This is the first event of its kind in the city and it would great to see it coming back annually, so please get behind the event and share it with your nearest and dearest. You can find out more about the event on the links below, and for continued event information direct from Gunwharf Quays please see their official event page HERE.
