Almost five months on since lockdown we are still seeing the impact of Covid-19 across our community. With health & wellbeing at the forefront of priorities for the brand Island Feather, we had the opportunity to catch up with founder Claudia Albrecht to understand what has changed for the business and how she has continued to maintain a mission to support customers to be healthy and happy through the pandemic.

Through their sportswear & sports events, Island Feather is a lifestyle brand with a mission to support others to be healthy and happy. In a normal year, Island Feather would spend their summer season delivering watersports at events and festivals across the country.

Due to COVID-19, Island Feather’s events and festivals were cancelled, so as a resident in Southsea, founder Claudia Albrecht thought why not bring the services and expertise of Island Feather back to her community especially at a time when health and well-being is paramount.

Claudia explains, “I think now more than ever it’s a priority for everyone to remain happy and healthy. We feel that the silver lining for Island Feather is that through our services and expertise we can support our local community to get outdoors, be healthy & enjoy the natural environment of the south coast. We are so grateful for our home and the opportunity to take part in a range of watersports in an amazing setting.”

We were excited to learn that Island Feather have partnered with Southsea Beach Cafe and are offering Stand Up Paddleboard lessons right on our door step to the community here in Southsea.

The services available are an introduction to Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) private or group lessons, SUP Yoga and SUP Hire. “Our aim at Island Feather has to evolve our services in line with the needs of our customers. We have had the pleasure to take individuals out on the water for the first time as well as supporting others to progress their paddleboarding skills. Our ambition is to develop our services to include trips and tours and support our customers to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle that Portsmouth can offer through paddleboarding experiences.
