The Fitness Festival Returns This April at Gunwharf Quays

While the effects of Covid haven’t gone away completely, many aspects of our lives have returned to normal. One of the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic was the fitness and leisure sector. Since then, there has been a revival and Sweat Fitness Festival is back to show that the industry is back and going from strength to strength!

April sees the return of the Sweat Fitness Festival to Gunwharf Quays alongside the inaugural ‘Power up the Tower’ taking place at the Spinnaker Tower on Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th of April at Gunwharf Quays.

The event are free to attend and aims to celebrate and inspire active lifestyles and is the only event of its kind in the UK that is free to attend. Although the Power up the Tower has an entry fee of £30, for more info click here.

Created in 2015 and originally known as the ‘Southsea Fitness Festival’, we relocated to Gunwharf Quays in 2021 delivering a successful Pilot event with just a few weeks’ notice.

Partners include internationally renowned fitness brands TRX, and Hyperice, whilst they’ll also be joined by The Alchemist, Wagamama, the University of Portsmouth and many more. The Festival’s charity partners are the RNLI and Pompey in the Community, and we also provide a platform for local sports teams, and local businesses and fitness instructors.

Festival A-Z: The weekend will see everything from Aerial Dance, Bounce Fit, Cold Water Immersion experiences, Floating mindfulness, Hyperice Recovery Zone, Live DJ’s, Mindset workshops, On-stage classes, Street Dance, Tai Chi, Tower Run, TRX workouts, Yoga, Zumba and more.

Founder, Luke Newton, told us “It is exciting to bring the Festival back to Gunwharf for a second time. The support and enthusiasm that the Gunwharf management team show is really appreciated and helps us to inspire people to lead more active lives. We are looking forward to a fun weekend!”

On the eve of the Festival, Luke is also hosting a Tower Run. Power up the Tower will see runners take on the 530 steps up the internal stairwell of the Spinnaker Tower! £5 of every ticket sold is going to the RNLI whilst the event is also a part of the World Tower Running Championships!

Tony Sammut – General Manager, Spinnaker Tower said, “Whether it’s by climbing up the Tower or abseiling down, we love to see people enjoying a challenge and look forward to the community coming together for Power up The Tower. It’s a privilege to host the event and show our appreciation for the RNLI volunteers who go out on the water, often in very difficult conditions, saving lives at sea.”
