The Hungry Herbivores

If you’ve been down to Outside In Food Court lately you may have noticed that there has been a few substitutions with the eateries within the court, one of which sees the The Hungry Herbivores come in to provide their delightful food offerings. The Hungry Herbivores is a place where you can explore all things delicious and vegan. For veggies and non-veggies alike, The Hungry Herbivores create and share recipes that fall short of the salad-leaf vegan stereotypes. The blossoming grass roots business is driven by female force – Rosie and Amor. The pair have been brought together by a love of eating and creating plant-based food. Their vision is to inspire individuals with their creative overview on food by using quality ingredients and pouring their passion into handcrafting the most flavoursome creations they can.

The Hungry Herbivores originated as a blog in 2016 and still to this day shares its sweet and savoury recipes with its followers. Having built up a solid foundation with the blog, The Hungry Herbivores have also catered for the relaunch party of LUSH Portsmouth as well hosting an Asian Supper Club at Hunter Gatherer. You may be familiar with the friendly faces of Rosie and Amor, they both worked for the wholefood cooperative, Wild Thyme Wholefoods, based in Palmerston Road. This saw them both successfully contributing towards various themed nights collaborating with The Merchant House and No 6 Cinema amongst others.

As well as serving up the vegan dishes at Outside In, The Hungry Herbivores have also launched their Gourmet Vegan Supper Clubs running them from the comfort of their own home. The supper clubs see you being welcomed with a cocktail/mocktail made with the locally sourced ‘The Mighty Bucha’ Kombucha before being seated to experience the four courses of flavour that have been created by Rosie and Amor. A sample of some of the dishes include:

  • Spinach Socca with Charred Corn, Home grown Thyme Roasted Tomatoes, Blackberry Vinegar and Caramelised Squash Puree
  • Purple Sweet Potato Gnocchi, Roasted Garlic and Celeriac Mash, Hemp & Watercress Pesto, Almond Parmesan, Pickled Radish and Grilled Fennel
  • Brandy Snap Basket Filled with Chocolatr & Chestnut Mousse, Blackberry Truffle and Sage infused Maple Drizzle

Such is the popularity of the events so far, they have sold out very quickly and that has happened this time around for the Supper Club scheduled for this Saturday (21st). There are usually 16 tickets available so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the next event.

If you have been fortunate enough to grab a ticket for Saturday’s event, then I hope you enjoy! If not, then make sure to visit The Hungry Herbivores down at Outside In Food Court and sample their awesome creations! I for one have and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
