Portsmouth artist My Dog Sighs paints gigantic Hug mural

Over the past week internationally acclaimed artist My Dog Sighs has been painting a giant size version of his ‘Portsmouth Hug’ on the wall of the Somerstown Community Hub in Portsmouth. He has been trying to get access to a large space in the city for a few years and finally this has happened with the help of Portsmouth City Council.

The scaffolding went up very quickly and My Dog Sighs scaled the heights to leave one of his signature pieces of work. “I painted a very accurate scaled down drawing which I had to refer to a lot. A 2mm thick line calculated to 30cm thick line on the wall. There was an awful lot of measuring.”

The ‘Portsmouth Hug’ can be seen at the main entrance to the community hub in Somerstown, Portsmouth.

Photographs below tell the story of the work from start to finish. To see more of his work – http://mydogsighs.co.uk/
