PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

Laurel

On Tuesday evening I went up to the Shepherds Bush Empire to see Laurel support MS MR. This was her first major live show since signing a deal with Turnfirst Artists, the same company as Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea and Dan Croll.

The last time I saw Laurel was about a year and a half ago performing in the Edge of the Wedge for the Road To Blissfields competition, she was on stage by herself armed with just her guitar. Then she was playing to an audience of just under a hundred, here Laurel was playing for over a thousand in one of the most well known venues in the UK.

Being the first support act can sometimes be a difficult slot, however Laurel really captured the audience’s attention. The crowd took to her amazingly well, giving her huge a applause after each track. A twenty five minute set including the tracks Mankind, The Desert and Blue Blood. And it was great to see these performed with her full band for the first time.

The songs sounded great in such a large venue and that was only made better by the crowds response, and judging by the post show Tweets and reviews so did the everyone else who was there that night.

Speaking to Laurel after the show, she was obviously buzzing and looking forward to playing more live shows and continuing to get her music out there. Her next show is going to be on 27th Nov at the Dingwalls Club, Camden Lock, Chalk Farm Road. You can find out more information about how to get tickets HERE. If you can get yourself to London then I’d recommend getting up there.

You can follow Laurel on Facebook, Twitter YouTube and SoundCloud. You will even find two FREE downloads on her SoundCloud account.
