Sunday saw Portsmouth welcome home one of it most famous and successful exports, Neil Gaiman. Neil was in town to celebrate a road being named after his newest book ‘The Ocean at the End of the Lane’. The road itself is the bus lane, west of Canoe Lake, it’s a shame that no one will be able to have it as their address though.
Portsmouth Guildhall also hosted a talk and book signing with Neil and a host of fans who queued to get work signed by the man himself. The event went on late into the night with Neil staying to spend time with his fans. There was a lot of self confessed geeks who all went home with a smile on their faces. It’s great when you can meet one of your heroes who then turns out to be even nicer and more humble than you expected.
‘The Ocean at the End of the Lane’ is available from all good retailers and you can follow Neil on Twitter @neilhimself.
Thank you to Gavin Nanson for allowing us to use his photos from the event.

Did anyone spell-check this article before publishing it? If so, can someone explain what the word ‘inly’ means?

Sorry Dave.
Heard yesterday that he stayed signing books at the guildhall until 1am, pretty amazing.
