Blissfields Festival begins on 4th June at Vicarage Farm in Winchester. Portsmouth will be well represented at the festival with an eclectic mix of artists performing over the three days. In the build up to the festival we will be showcasing those artists involved.
The next band we’d like to introduce you to Kassassin Street, the five piece consists of Rowan Bastable (vocals and guitar), Nathan Hill (drums), Ryan Hill (guitar), Andy Hurst (keys and laptop) and Tom Wells (bass). The band state that they are inspired by 60’s/70’s beat, psychedelia and more modern artists like Primal Scream, Spiritualized and Death in Vegas.
After ten minutes of listening to on the bands SoundCloud page I went out and bought their EP from iTunes. The three track EP is called ‘Moloko Vellocet’ and is a bargain at £2.37! My personal favourite is ‘Centre Straight Atom’. I can easily see the band being able to put on a great show for a large audience.
Rowan from the band found out that they were playing the festival while at the top of a Canyon in Peru. He also added “We’re really excited to be playing Blissfields this year. For such a new band it’s an amazing opportunity to go and perform alongside the likes of Bastille and Mystery Jets! It’s gonna very much be the highlight of our summer. Blissfields holds a very special place in the heart of new, aspiring, acts too I think. They are very passionate about giving opportunities to new bands like ourselves, and we’re really happy to have been asked onto the bill this year. It’s gonna be one hell of a show.”
Kassassin Street can be found playing the Bradley Bubble Stage on friday of the festival.
The bands busy summer kicked off earlier this month when they played at The Bandstand to 3000 people during one of the rare sunny weekends we’ve had! The band can also be found at Victorious Festival at the Dockyard in August. You can find out about upcoming shows and all other news via their website www.kassassinstreet.com, Facebook and Twitter.
