Tomorrow from 6pm at Aspex Gallery there will be three artist talks reflecting on the question how do the histories residing in personal and public archival material (photographs, films, documents) open up possibilities and spaces for new artist’s works to emerge? Three British-based artists, with South African connections, Bridget Baker, Katy Beinart & Patti Gaal-Holmes, will each present an illustrated talk about projects they are currently working on, before opening up a discussion with chair, Jonathan Parsons. The event is free to attend and no need to book and perfect if you have an interest in filmmaking or as an artist incorporating film in to your artistic practice.
There are also still a few spaces left on Gaal-Holmes’ upcoming 16mm Experimental Film workshop on the 3rd July at 1pm. All materials will be provided and films will be screened at the end of the workshop. For beginners with no experience of filmmaking or practitioners looking for a little diversion/inspiration into their practice. To book, call Aspex Gallery on 02392 778080 or book on Eventbrite HERE.
