There has been a fantastic response to the Johnny Starboard Competition ‘We are an island’ as featured on Strong Island a while ago. Annarose and Lee said “It’s been great seeing all the likes and feedback for their work and so lovely seeing how enthusiastic the students are. We’ve also had lot’s of requests for more competitions from the students and messages from others to say they will def be entering next time! All very positive and we are definitely going to work on something for them again in the new year and maybe make it a regular feature. We’ve loved getting to know some of the illustrators a bit more and have some special projects lined up for some”.
The brief was to design and create a piece of artwork for display in the Johnny Starboard shop. Theme was We Are An Island: Interpretation of Iconic Images of Portsmouth. The winner will have a day’s work experience with I Love Dust and their work will be featured in the shop in Cascades, Portsmouth and a potential collaboration to have artwork featured in their clothing line.
Here are a small selection of entries featuring work by Karl Devine, Jacob Hill-Gowing and Sally Anne Bufton.
Further examples of entries can be seen on their Facebook page – http://www.facebook.com/JohnnyStarboardPortsmouth
The winner will be announced next week.
