Anyone on the local jewellery scene should have heard of Southsea based jeweller Laura Bennett. Laura hand makes contemporary jewellery inspired by nature – “sympathetically composed pieces made from found objects combined with precious metals – exploring the natural qualities of the materials.” If you have not seen her would you should check out her website – www.laurabennettjewellery.co.uk.
Laura is teaming up with Making Space to offer a unique opportunity: Laura is running a 1-day workshop at the bespoke craft venue on Saturday 21st July. The workshop allows participants to see how Laura gets her ideas and have ago themselves, leaving the workshop with a piece of jewellery. Participants will need to bring in foraged items from nature as inspiration; seedpods, shells, acorns etc. Inspired by these items you will create a pendant, a pair of earrings or a ring. The course is suitable for beginners and intermediates, basic skills such as soldering, cutting and shaping will be taught.
The workshop runs 10am-3pm with a break for lunch and costs just £45 including materials.
