Even though the 1960s music photography exhibition ended at the museum some time ago the Pompey Pop Pix Flickr stream is still being updated with amazing archive photos of bands and venues from the 50s, 60s & 70s. This aerial photo of the pier and seafront went up recently and shows the Savoy, then including a ballroom and aquarium (!) and long before the days of 5th Avenue, etc. With one of the buildings gone and the other due for redevelopment too it’s amazing to see it in better days and highlights how good Dave Allen’s archive is.
