Back in June, the Nuts Over The Atlantic team joined the Fitness Festival. Mark, Steve, Dan and Jon were busy readying themselves for one of the toughest races on Earth; The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, a 3,000 mile row across the Atlantic Ocean in aid of The Movember Foundation, a global charity committed to men living happier, healthier, longer lives.
Every member of Team Nuts has been directly or indirectly affected by the causes Movember stands for – testicular cancer, prostate cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Not content with taking on this mammoth challenge, the team are aiming to raise £100,000 to support The Movember Foundation.
This morning the SWEAT Southsea team and the local community will aim to row continuously for a combined 48 hour period on their two indoor rowers to raise help raise awareness, and funds in support of the Nuts Over The Atlantic team and The Movember Foundation. The challenge is split up into hour-long slots and there are still four slots left to be filled. If you think you can help then get in touch with them via their social media or email me stuart@strong-island.co.uk and I’ll put you in direct contact with SWEAT Southsea’s Luke Newton.
If you are passing by the Haslemere Road area then be sure to pop in and show your support. Alternatively, you can also support the cause by donating online https://uk.movember.com/donate. If you would like to find out more about the event, the cause or the hour slots that are still available then check out their events page – www.sweat.fitness/events/sweat-nuts-in-southsea-rowing-challenge.
