Fantastic news yesterday that Aspex Gallery has confirmed four years of funding from Arts Council England who have recognised the value of their work by continuing their status as a National Portfolio Organisation. This commitment from Arts Council England has demonstrated their support for Aspex’s artistic and educational programmes – valuing both their support for emerging artists nationally & internationally and Aspex’s work to engage local audiences in Portsmouth and beyond.
“Aspex Visual Arts Trust is delighted that Arts Council England continues to recognise the important work we do. The board are very proud of the Aspex team, who are committed to delivering an extraordinary quality of work, on top of educational experiences.
Retaining National Portfolio Organisation status enables the organisation to continue its important work, enriching Portsmouth and the the surrounding area’s cultural and creative environment. Thank you to Arts Council England“. – Chair of the Board of Trustees, Drusilla Moody
The investment of nearly half a million pounds, set at £112,117 per year from 2018-2022 will enable Aspex to continue to support the development of the contemporary visual art sector in Portsmouth and the surrounding region. This support from Arts Council England plays an important role in unlocking cash and in-kind support from other sources and sectors, including corporate partners and charitable trusts and foundations.
Other local arts organisations/venues receiving funding include the New Theatre Royal and The Spring in Havant.
We’re looking forward to seeing (at least) four more years of fantastic work from Aspex, a key cultural gem of the city. To find out more about the gallery’s exhibitions, community engagement and more visit their website:
