PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

Deluxe Flamingos EP

The Deluxe Flamingos are Mike James, PJ Davy and Matt Horn. The trio have just released their new EP and they’ve done it with a little help from a host of local talent. Featured on the EP are the vocal talents of Curxes‘ Roberta Fidora, Joe Ross of The Doppler Shift, Lauren Ross, and Joe Watson former frontman of Attack Vipers and now Horseflies. The EP was recorded in various bedrooms and lounges, with the drums being recorded at Villa B by Neil Brooming and additional engineering by Jack Lister.

PJ describes “We’ve always wanted to collaborate with various vocalists and musicians, so this was a great opportunity see what else we could do. For this record we wanted to recreate the live feel of some of our favourite tracks and also push ourselves with some brand new material. Our music has always paid homage to our influences, from My Bloody Valentine, Pixies, John Carpenter, to Gary Numan and everything in between, but we always seem to end up cinematic in scale. We’ve kept it as DIY as possible and the recordings feature a range of household items getting thwacked about a bit amongst the chaos. The heaviest and dirtiest track features a can of Mr Sheen. Hopefully this EP represents what people have seen from us, so far. It’s been an honour working with some great people and getting to play some awesome shows in Southsea and we look forward to more.”
