Friday lunchtime and we have a new Strong Island Sounds podcast episode and Charlie is back with episode 8 of Longlive Radio. This week Charlie has taken a look at one of the last great truly independent record labels, Creation. Though there’s none here today, Creation was most famously home to Oasis. However, they also put out records from many British bands that helped define a generation, particularly through the heady days of Britpop. Alan McGee was always ready to take a risk, sometimes with dire results, sometimes, as reflected here, with a keen ear and a touch of genius. There’s also cuts from Dusty Springfield, Beck and M.I.A.
