Southsea Movember Spectacular II at The Wedgewood ...

Southsea Movember Spectacular II at The Wedgewood Rooms on 29th November

As you may already know, the sudden appearance of bushy, droopy or Errol Flynn moustaches on many a man’s upper lip across Portsmouth, every November, helps to mark the beginning of the global, annual, Movember Foundation Campaign. The Movember Charity is proud to be responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches around the world. With their “Mos”, these men raise vital funds and awareness, supporting research, patient support and prompting conversations; about the often ignored issues of prostate and testicular cancer and mental health, within the worlds communities.

Movember challenges men to grow a sponsored moustache for the 30-days of November, thereby transforming their faces into walking, talking billboards, successfully raising awareness and money for the Movember Foundation. Mo Sisters do everything that Mo Bros do, just without a Mo. A Mo Sister is essentially a woman who not only loves a Mo, but is dedicated to supporting the Mo Bros in her life, through their moustache growing journey. These inspirational women are committed to raising awareness of men’s health issues and much needed funds for men’s health along the way.

Since its humble beginnings in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement, inspiring more than 3 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sisters to participate across 21 countries and thousands of cities worldwide, with Portsmouth being Mo exception (see what we did there?!). Last year, in addition to thousands of individual Pompey sponsored Mo growing efforts, a handful of local patrons and independent Portsmouth businesses, made up of Southsea’s Pie & Vinyl, Strong Island, Head Barbers of Albert Rd and Munroe Effect vocalist Daniel Sutton-Johanson, banded together and raised a glorious £1800 in one wild party at Little Johnny Russell’s, contributing to the 2012 international grand total of £92 Million Pounds.

This year, determined to break the £2K target, they’ve expanded their brotherhood and partnered up with The Wedgewood Rooms & U.K Flyers to lay on an even Bigger Movember Spectacular. Tickets are just £5 and all proceeds go towards The Movember Foundation. In addition, Southsea’s Mo Collective, are proud to have joined forces with the handsome team behind Hipshaker and the sinful dance-floor mavericks of It’s a Sin, comprising of The News Awards 2013 very own ‘DJ of the Year’ DJ Lemon and his 2012 winning comrade, DJ Spiky Mark, to form an exclusive and one night only musical love child – SINSHAKER Clubnight! The night will also play host to Champagne Justice DJs and a super line-up of live music including:

The Day of The Rabblement
Curxes
Munroe Effect
Dingus Khan

Not only that, but as Official Movember Rated Barbers, HEAD Barbers, will be providing 5 Star, Mo Your Own Way, traditional Mo cuts throughout the night, for any brave bearded patrons wishing to join the cause for donations. A Pie & Vinyl and Strong Island Market Stall will be selling vinyl and Southsea apparel, donating a % of takings to the total. Southsea’s Pie & Vinyl will also be selling Moustache Wax throughout November, and donation boxes will be in many Southsea shops and retailers, all doing their bit!

Doors open at 8pm and the party runs into the early hours, in the hands of Sinshaker DJs, until 2am.
