Shadow Child Featured on Grand Theft Auto V

The Rockstar computer game series Grand Theft Auto has due to it’s huge success transcended from the computer games world in to general popular culture in many different ways and the release of a new game in the series gets pretty much the whole World talking. For many people who pre-ordered the game they will be spending today off of work, tucked away exploring the open world environment the game offers and don’t expect to hear from them for a while…any HR bosses in the know will be checking all called in sickies today like the FBI.

One of the innovative features in the earlier games were the in-game radio stations with literally dozens and dozens of different songs to listen to that also enhance the gameplaying action at different points due to the intelligent game design. For Grand Theft Auto V music producer Flying Lotus has his own curated radio station and some of the songs on that station include songs by himself, Aphex Twin, Outkast, an exclusive track by Tyler, the Creator and a track by Portsmouth’s very own Shadow Child.

Shadow Child aka Dave Spoon (Simon Neale) really needs no introduction, with a long list of incredible dance music credits in production for other acts as well as under his own moniker plus numerous appearances on Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra plus loads and loads of awesome remixes, including most recently for London Grammar (listen and download for free HERE, it is immense). Shadow Child is Simon’s new project through the new Portsmouth based label Food Music and has seen him heavily DJing all over the UK and working closely with other local DJ and producer Kry Wolf. Simon is also involved with our very own Strong Island Recordings too. Hands down one of the busiest Portsmouth heads by far.

The featured track on GTAV is ’23’ and can be listened to below and the game is now available for general release from today.
