Here on Strong Island we have featured a lot of local musicians and bands recently and this just goes to show how much talent there is locally. Andrew Laval is singer songwriter from Portsmouth who’s recently got in touch with us on email. He admits he’s been writing songs for years but it’s only over the past year he’s started putting his music out in the public domain. I for one am glad he did!

Andrew is currently away in Somerset studying Environmental Science but hopefully you’ll start to see him playing shows locally in the not too distant future.

Andrew has made some of his music available to download via his SoundCloud page. You can clearly hear that Andrew has been influenced by artists like Nick Drake and Elliot Smith. He says that authors such as Jack Kerouac and Henry David Thoreau have also influenced his writing.
