Blissfields Festival begins on 4th July at Vicarage Farm in Winchester. Portsmouth will be well represented at the festival with an eclectic mix of artists performing over the three days. In the build up to the festival we will be showcasing those artists involved.
Floella Grace actually hails from the Isle of Wight although as it’s in the PO postcode and she is a regular in Portsmouth music venues we have adopted her as one of our own.
As well as solo performances Floella also plays with her band. Those of you who went to the Road to Blissfields event at the Wedgewood Rooms would have seen her cameo as one of the backing singers for Fine Lines.
When asked about how she’d describe her style she says it is inspired by ambient folk with hints of jazz, country, blues and dream pop. If you ask me, she reminds me of Kimya Dawson who featured heavily on the Juno Soundtrack. There is Juno like shy and humble awkwardness about the tracks I’ve heard online. Floella is playing one of the ‘evening’ slots on the Acoustic Stage on friday of Blissfields.
You can also catch Floella outside of Blissfields as she is playing Rhythmtree Festival, Southsea Fest, Victorious Festival and Postfest.
Some of what you will find online is quite raw however Floella and her band have been in he studio and we should hopefully see an EP coming out later in the year.
