PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

Drunken Sailor Profiles: Battery Hens

Portsmouth’s own Battery Hens are a four-piece with a brooding, heavy sound spawned from a heady mix of dark riffs ala Queens of the Stone Age & Eagles of Death Metal, a touch of growling rhythms of Sabbath plus the swirling wall of guitar that would make Ride proud. Good stuff. The band make all the internal organs within Bar 56 vibrate from around 3:15pm. Not to be missed.

Lets be honest, this quote from Southsea’s own Rusty Sheriff says it all “Battery Hens also have more guitar pedals than Southsea has bike pedals”. The band play in a warm up show tonight at Bar 56, if you want to get warmed up for the weekend get on it sharpish.

You can find out more about Battery Hens on their Facebook, one their Twitter (@BatteryHens) and listen to some of their songs on SoundCloud (and listen below too).
