All throughout June Wildlife Trusts challenge you to go wild in the UK with 30 Days Wild! For each day of June can you do something wild every day? That’s 30 simple, fun and exciting Random Acts of Wildness. It could be looking for wild flowers in Milton, exploring the shoreline for fish in Copnor, listening for birds in Hilsea, finding insects in Southsea…and so much more. All over the UK tens of 1000s of people are getting involved (you can also get a pack from the Wildlife Trusts HERE, packed with wild ideas) and they will be sharing them using #30DaysWild on social media.
For June and for 30 Days Wild we’re teaming up with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and getting out in Portsmouth for the 30 days, specifically looking for wild places and wildlife in our busy, built up urban city, for #WildPortsmouth. Despite the city being so busy, there are actually lots and lots of corners of the wild, from the obvious like Langstone Harbour for birds and fish, through to the little patches of wild flowers in between carparks in Somerstown. We would love you to look for this city nature and when you post up your photos on Instagram or Twitter add the hashtag #WildPortsmouth.
Throughout 30 Days Wild the guys at Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust will check your #WildPortsmouth city nature photos and help identify the birds, insects, flowers, trees, etc in your images. At the end of the month we will also be picking our favourite #WildPortsmouth photos and giving Strong Island prizes to our favourites.
So today pop out and take in a little bit of wildness and start sharing, because even in one of the most densely populated cities in the UK still has so much nature happening around and amongst us.
