PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

BookFest 2013 Begins

Calling all book lovers near and far. Portsmouth BookFest 2013 officially kicks off this weekend and offers a host of events to cater for readers and writers both young and old.

This year the book festival includes 24 events featuring 37 authors at 12 venues across the city. Events on offer range from Jacqueline Wilson stopping off on her Diamond Tour to Portsmouth’s First Fiction Award (both tomorrow, Saturday 19th October), with story playtime, how to get published workshops and a day of the dead thrown in for good measure.

The festival concludes on 2nd November with CSI Portsmouth, taking place at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard. The popular event features a mix of police officers, forensic experts and five best-selling crime authors. Find out more about CSI Portsmouth at www.portsmouthbookfest.co.uk/csi-portsmouth.

BookFest events range from free to £6 for a ticket, and Portsmouth library card holders can get a £1 discount on a ticket bought for any of the events.
