Since our very first t-shirts printed back in 2010 we wanted to get the best people to print our premium tees for us, screen printing them by hand with love and a real artisan care and attention to their craft. We ended up seeking out Stu at Lovenskate in East London not only because of a shared history and love for skateboarding but for their equal love and devotion for printing both apparel and boards. With each item being printed by hand each is unique in it’s own way and with a client list including Carhartt & Volcom and other amazing brands large and small, we knew they were the printers for us both as Strong Island and later, Strong Island Clothing Co. Lovenskate is also not only one of the very best small screen printers in the UK but also a small skateboard brand, supporting skateboarding throughout the country.
Huck Magazine recently profiled Lovenskate as part of their new video series highlighting different artisan crafts still in use in creative sectors and sports, entitled The Working Artisans’ Club. If you wanted an insight into the people who pull every squeegee on every print on every tee produced by Strong Island Clothing Co (not the first batch but also including the second batch of our Portsmouth FC collaboration tees) then this two minute film should do the job.
