PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

Hilsea Splashpool

Hilsea Lido and the splashpool were iconic civil amenities for the north of Portsea Island, meaning families and people of all ages could have fun swimming, diving and sunbathing. The lido and splashpool went slowly in to decline and closed some years ago but after incredible dedication and hard work they were taken over by Hilsea Lido For The People, a community group of people working to bring the place back to it’s previous glory. Despite the tough economic times the group have strived to raise money through a variety of different events and recently the first major change happened with the new splashpool. The group of volunteers without any direct funding are also striving to restore the main pool back to use, with talk of it possibly even being as early as this year.
