“Established in 1977, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organisation. Our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.
Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately-balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.”
If you have ever watched Whale Wars then you’ll have a pretty good idea of what these guys do, along with many other amazing campaigns to save and defend the World’s oceans from being completely depleted.
Be part of SSCS’s life-saving efforts now and come along to show your support for the crew of the MV Steve Irwin, who are about to embark on their next journey to the Southern Ocean – one of the World’s most dangerous and remote locations. Last season the Japanese whaling fleet called it quits, but if they return this season, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society will be ready to resume their efforts to obstruct and disable illegal whaling operations.
If you want to wish the crew well and give them a good send-off come along to the fundraising event/party, meet some of the volunteers who will be there to answer all your questions about the campaigns, past and present. And don’t forget to bring your pennies because there will be some of the organisation’s unmistakable merchandise on sale.
There will be live music and DJs providing the entertainment for the evening and at some point we will be showing some videos of the work that Sea Shepherd do. Come and show your support and learn about defending the oceans. Entry is by DONATION on the door. Please be generous!
