PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

Southsea Food Festival

On the 16th &17th of June, Palmerston Road Precinct will come with the arrival of the International market. The Southsea Food Festival gets underway on the 18th June at 10am, with this year’s event promising to be bigger and better than ever. 2011 will be the fifth year of the food festival. Last years festival attracted thousands of people from across Hampshire. Southsea is an ideal location, with wide-open spaces and a traditional town centre combining to provide an excellent day out. Such was the success of the 2010 festival that we are planning similar road closures in 2011 because we are expecting large numbers of visitors again and we want to keep the feel of last years festival alive.
Our aim is to ensure that we remain a true food festival, a celebration of produce and most of all to remember that we’re putting on a show for the public to enjoy. Come and meet the chefs from your favourite local restaurants, sample food and drink from local suppliers, and try Farmers’ Market fare.

The Southsea Food Festival will fill the Town Centre with colourful stalls giving visitors the chance to tantalise taste buds by exploring new foods, and to show how local food can be the very best that there is. A diverse showcase of top food grown by farmers from around the surrounding area will be on show, and available to buy. Local food businesses will be demonstrating their cuisine and food related products. The event promises to be a treat for amateur cooks and professionals alike, with interactive demos and free tasters abounding to ensure that everyone is kept entertained.
