PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

SingZone in Portsmouth

Ever watched X Factor and thought you could do better? Are you a closet hairbrush singing star? Or can you hardly get a note out but love crooning along to the radio anyway?
Whatever your musical skills, local company Igloo Music UK is convinced that the nation is full of budding singers of all shapes, sizes and abilities. Their New Year’s resolution to have the south coast singing is kicking off in Eastleigh in January with their launch of their new singing social club, SingZone.

“So many people would like to have the confidence to sing, to find their voice and just enjoy belting out a tune or two” explained Dielle Lodrick, one of the founders of SingZone. “From 18 years to 98, singing in a group is just incredibly fun. There’s no criteria to join SingZone – just to have fun. No lessons, no auditions, no embarrassing solos.”

If you think singing is all about reading music and formal tuition, SingZone is here to prove you wrong. Southsea Social Club will be hosting the first Portsmouth SingZone Session on 25th February from 8.30-10pm, encouraging people from all walks of life to join in with whatever’s on the singing menu, just as T Mobile did at Heathrow Airport. It’s strictly no talent required!

“We’ll be doing a vast range of music from great Queen hits, Take That and Lady Gaga to jazz, gospel and 1920’s blues, with maybe a few West End showstoppers thrown in” group leader Damian told us. “The emphasis is on socialising, exploring music and having fun.”
