Talk by the Caravan Gallery for Solent Camera Club

Solent Camera Club talk: ‘The Caravan Gallery: photographing the way we live today’, Friday 14 January 2011, 7.45pm-10pm

Venue: Southsea Community Centre, St Pauls Square, Southsea PO5 4EE
Non-members welcome, £2 admission charge.

Artists and photographers Jan Williams and Chris Teasdale from Southsea’s own Caravan Gallery will be at the Solent Camera Club on Friday 14th showing some of their unique images and talking about their work, which shows the reality of Britain and the British, contrasting with the sort of images typically shown in tourist information brochures! The Caravan Gallery is a mobile exhibition venue and visual arts project, which Jan and Chris have run for more than ten years. They say they are “on a mission to record the ordinary and extraordinary details of life in 21st century Britain. We are particularly drawn to absurd anomalies and curious juxtapositions, typical of places in transition and in the process of reinventing themselves as regeneration fever sweeps the land.”
