Georgina Giles and the Southsea Cyanotypes

Local photographer Georgina Giles has an amazing piece of work called The Southsea Cyanotypes. Cyanotypes are one off cyan-blue photo prints created where the painted on process chemicals reacts to light, the process itself dates back to the 19th century and the very early days of photography. Georgina’s Southsea Cyanotypes are prints that depict actual net curtains from houses around Southsea, encouraging the viewer to look at net curtains with a fresh perspective, to see past their domestic function and to observe them as beautiful objects in their own right.
