The 6×4 Secret Postcard Exhibition kicked off this weekend and in the end nearly 800 postcards were sent from artists around the world including Paul Smith, Wayne Hemingway, Martin Parr and Richard Wilson. The launch night attracted quite a lot of people and over 80 postcards were sold including a card made by local award winning jeweler Barbara Tipple. The lucky person who bought the card for £20 also received over £200 worth of diamonds.
I popped by the exhibition this afternoon to see the work and take some pics and was very impressed with the selection and quality of the work. Jan Williams informed me that all the cards left after 5pm today will be for sale online.
If anyone has any stories to tell of their purchases or if you are one of the artists with a story to tell about your entries then please add these to the Flickr 6×4 Group. Jan would love to hear how you made your piece and if you have bought a postcard then you could take a photo of it on your wall and upload it to the flickr group. When you find your postcard in the group please add comments. If anyone took photographs at the opening night then Jan would love to see these added to the group. I was lucky enough to purchase a piece of work by Dan Thompson of Artist and Makers. It now sits very proudly at home.

Thanks for posting such a great record of 6by4 Claire. What an amazing weekend! It really brought people together and it was good to see so many new faces at Art Space. I’m still buzzing but have a bit of a postcard hangover today!
Huge thanks to everyone who supported this project. Looks like we may have to do it again next year according to the feedback we’ve had.

I’m so glad the event was documented as I was unable to attend.
One of my submissions is in the shot above, bottom right, black and white tulip 🙂
