By chance I caught some racing pigeons being released up on Portsdown Hill the other day. Once released the birds slowly circled out in a flock, travelling further and further away from the hill and then over the city towards Southsea.
Pigeon fancying a possible new sport for the Southsea Gents?

They often release pigeons on Southsea Common by the War Memorial early on weekend mornings – one regular truck is a 7.5 tonner converted to carry birds who then fly back to Lancashire.
