Greenfair – Details

Full details of this weekend’s Greenfair have been released:

Portsmouth will see its first ever Solar-powered Green Fair in the Guildhall Square on Saturday 5th September from 11-4 with a programme of music and film powered from a solar array provided by Zia Solar systems. The music will be provided by the Coalition Festival, Art in the Park, Southampton Arts Cafe and other local bands. The films include a free showing of the acclaimed film The Age of Stupid at 2 p.m.
There will also be over 60 stalls selling crafts, food, organic and Fairtrade goods, plus local groups campaigning on green issues, healers, an inter-dimensional Wizard with various eco machines and experiments. There’ll be a green motor show with electric bikes, scooters and cars, plus vehicles running on waste gas/vegetable oil. Visitors will be able to see demonstrations of low impact living including solar electric, solar hot water, straw bale and hemp construction.
One of the organisers, Chris Kennett said: ‘Visitors will be able to find out about green gardening, different foods, green motoring, energy saving, recycling and making the most of their bikes. We think people will enjoy seeing the exciting ways in which they can change their lifestyles and cut carbon emissions’.
The Fair will be opened by Dr Mae-wan Ho of the Institute of Science in Society.

The event is being organised by the Portsmouth Climate Action Network together with Portsmouth City Council.
