Victorious Festival Preview: Lewis Capaldi

Lewis Capaldi will be gracing the Castle Stage at glorious Victorious this year and I am psyched to catch him on stage. Notorious for his sense of humour, the Scottish singer/songwriter smashed his way through the singles charts with ‘Someone you Loved’. Making waves in the media with the likes of Noel Gallagher and on YouTube with various funny videos, it is hard to deny that Capaldi is not a proper character.

Capaldi’s ballad racked up 1.34milion sales this year, including 154.4 million streams. That is rather impressive!

I only recently clicked that Capaldi is related to Peter Capaldi from the punk rock band, Dreamboy’s and Doctor Who. Pretty cool link right there. Who doesn’t love a Doctor Who link?

Capaldi has been all over the place in recent months and within minutes of releasing tour dates in the UK and Ireland was sold out. Gigging since he was just 12 years old, his passion for music and entertaining has grown and his comfort and ease at being on stage is evident. He has a way with crowds and has become hugely popular, fast, due to his vibrant and comical personality. The lads a catch and he can sing!

I love the name of Capaldi’s album, ‘Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent’ and think he is a refreshing personality for folk, rock, pop lovers. A powerful, soulful voice with a strong vocal performance will put him in good stead for the crowds at this year’s Portsmouth event.

Victorious never fails with its line up and with bigger names every year the event is becoming cooler by the second. It’s great to be excited about artists who are set to perform and know that they will soon be in our cool little city. It makes all the difference not having to travel to see decent gigs and with a very creative, musical and inspirational bunch of locals, the crowds are right there with performers.

Portsmouth will welcome you later this month Capaldi. Cheers for saying yes to the gig! We are excited to see you!
