Portsmouth Festival Choir will be presenting an open Choral Workshop on Renaissance Choral Music including Palestrina’s Missa Brevis on Saturday 10th February from 1p.m. to 4 p.m. The workshop will be led by Thomas Neal, the Choir’s Musical Director, who is an authority on Renaissance music and his new book on Palestrina is about to be published. Thomas will concentrate on singing techniques particular to this repertoire, including phrasing, dynamics, tempo, expression and pronunciation.
The Workshop will take place at St Thomas Church, Bidbury Lane, Bedhampton, PO9 3JG, which is an attractive building with a large free car park. Singers of all abilities are invited to attend, the cost is £10 (Students £8) which includes hire of scores and tea or coffee.
