This week I visited the Brew Dog bar in Southampton, it’s tucked away in Upper Bannister Street behind Oxford Street and Bedford Place. I loved it and will talk about it in more detail in a feature which will follow in the near future. If you find yourself at a loose end this Friday evening then I would encourage you to head over for their Beavertown Brewery tap takeover. The fun starts from 6pm until late.
Here is a little taster of what delights you can expect.
Gamma Ray – 5.4%
American pale ale packed with 5 juicy hops, dry hopped to hell and back to pack a huge, punchy aroma.
Lupuloid – 6.7%
Beavertown’s first IPA made with a recipe altered 10 times to find the perfect result. 3 different hops, plus wheat and oats for a beautiful juicy mouthfeel.
8 Ball Rye – 6.2%
Rye IPA made with caramalt and rye along with others in the grist. The sweet malts balance perfectly with American hops for a floral and spicy finish.
Gondoila – 10.2%
Chocolate and raspberry imperial stout. Thick and black and with a dense chocolatey head. Cacao nibs balance perfectly with raspberry for a highly decadent beer. Think black forest gateaux.

Smog Lord Almighty – 11%
Holy damn. Imperial smog rocket (smoked porter). Smoked malt. Chocolate malt and molasses make up some of the grist in this heaven in a glass. Only chinook hops ensure a huge focus on the malt of this impy perfection.
Space Phantom – 3.7%
Berliner weisse dry hopped with galaxy hops. German zingy sour with Aussie hops to add an extra punch of citrus and passionfruit for this experimental beer.
