Renovated Aspex Begins with the Launch of ‘Family Saturdays’

Over the last two months Aspex Gallery’s interior has been completely reconfigured, resulting in the development of their Learning Space, Artist’s Studio and the relocation of their café-servery. Aspex’s  café partners Lily & Lime LD will also return to the gallery, providing locally sourced baked goods, refreshments and light lunches.

This Saturday sees the opening of this renovated space to the public and also marks the official start of Aspex’s new artist-in-residence, Alison Carlier. Carlier was chosen to undertaken the Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award (ARMA) Artist Residency earlier this year. Over ten weeks she will carry out education and participatory work alongside local youth, family and schools.

On the same Saturday, Carlier will also be running ‘Family Saturdays’, a new initiative offering free artistic drop-in workshops to the public. These will continue every Saturday, from 11am. You can keep up-to-date with Alison’s progress via Twitter and Instagram, using the hashtag #AspexArtist.
