PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

Pompeys 12th Man & The Ride 2 Bury

Tom from Pompeys 12th Man told us the other week about the plan for a small group of Portsmouth FC fans to cycle to the away game at Bury, last away game of the season, to raise money to buy community shares and also money to give to the #fightforjack fund. The route itself is over 300 miles and will be split over three days taking them up to Oxford, then Birmingham before the ride to Macclesfield and finally Bury, with the team arriving at the ground before kickoff. Some of the team will even then make the ride back to Portsmouth again the following day…some serious, heavy weight fan support.

What started off as a small group has grown and grown to (at the moment) 20 cyclists of varying abilities and fitness, from people who ride at the weekends for fun through to triathletes. By the time the ride begins on the 23rd April don’t be surprised to see many more people involved…with a Tour de France style peloton setting north. We wish Tom, Carl and all the group the best of luck and are looking forward to seeing photos and updates on the trip via Twitter with @Pompeys12thMan and the hashtag #Ride2Bury.

You can find out all you need about the fundraising ride on the website. Really liking the artwork, inspired by 1980s Pompey programme designs:
