New Wave with Directors Q&A

As a pre-event to a brand new international film festival in Portsmouth planned for September this year and as part of Portsmouth Festivities, New Wave with Directors Q&A on Friday 28th June is a special film event at the Kings Theatre dedicated to showcasing some of the most exciting new filmmaking talent around. New shorts to be screened, including the horror/comedy The Marrowing and the documentary Losing Sight of the Glory – nominated for the Royal Television Society’s (RTS) Student Television Awards.

Kate O’Driscoll, Artistic Director of Making Waves Film Festival said,” This will be a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in film to find out where new filmmakers are getting their inspiration and who their influences are”.

The shorts to be featured during New Wave also include The Honey Pot, a short animation, drama “Dancing in the Ashes” and the News Guide short film winner, A Hero’s Journey. The screenings will be followed by a short Q&A with some of the directors.

The New Wave event will be hosted by filmmaker John Rogers. His own film “Make Your Own Damn Art: The World of Bob and Roberta Smith” (2012) was one of Sight and Sound magazine’s ‘Films of 2012’. His first feature documentary, The London Perambulator, premiered at the East End Film Festival in 2009 with a sold-out screening at the Whitechapel Gallery.

New Wave tickets start at £1.50 and are available from the box office at the Kings Theatre. For more information visit www.kings-southsea.com or call 023 92828282.
